Bingo winners share 250K jackpot at bingo hall

A player has won a massive bingo jackpot of £253,000 at her local bingo hall. The player who has requested anonymity, won at the Staines Road Gala Bingo in Hounslow playing the popular High Five game.

The winner first won £3000 as the cash prize for a full house bingo and because she had also won the High Five jackpot, her winnings went up to a whopping £128,000. The High Five game is popular with bingo players as the jackpot is shared out with all participating players. In order to hit the High Five jackpot, which is always a large amount, the player needs to call “house” on number five which results in half of the overall jackpot being shared out with every player at the time of the win. 32 players won a share of the remaining £125,000, each taking home almost £4,000.

64 year old Lynda McNamara who was one of the lucky £4000 bingo winners said, "I have been going to Gala Hounslow since it opened and was sat in my regular seat very close to the jackpot winner when she shouted ‘house’. We were all so excited for her.”

She continued, "When we realised that we were all winners too you would have thought there were a thousand people in the room with all the noise. I plan to take my grandchildren to Disneyland, which I would have never been able to afford without this win. It really has been life changing for us all; it’s like a dream come true”

Gala Bingo Hounslow Club General Manager Rick Espey said: “The winner has been coming to the club for many years and we were all so excited for her when she shouted ‘house’. The whole club was clapping and cheering and the atmosphere was electric.

"Because of the way that the High 5 game works, everyone who was playing that afternoon won some money which made it especially nice.” The £253,000 win was the biggest ever High Five win ever at a Gala Bingo hall. Until not so long ago, players could enjoy the game at the Gala online bingo site, however, it has subsequently been discontinued.
