Mecca Bingo in Aberdeen gets new life - Online Bingo News
The Rank Group has pledged to pump an astounding £1.6 million into refurbishing its bingo hall in Aberdeen. Mecca Bingo, which is owned by the corporate biggie, Rank Group Plc which also owns the popular online bingo site, Mecca Bingo, will also create new jobs at the bingo hall in Berryden as a result of the refurbishment.
The revamp is expected to reach completion by either end of March or early April and is expected to add 18 new jobs to an existing 40. For starters, two bingo hosts will be employed at Mecca Aberdeen instead of one and table service will be introduced.
The bingo hall will remain open during the day and evenings so as not to disturb the daily running of the club and the bulk of the construction work will be conducted at night. Locals at Berryden can look forward to a brand new bingo hall which will include a lounge where customers can hang around with friends, enjoy food, have drinks brought to their table and play bingo. The bingo club already features a bar area and slot machines.
A spokeswoman for Mecca said the plan for the Aberdeen renovation was to draw the younger customers in to the place: “The site at Berryden is a huge complex which can seat 2,000 so we are going to create a new social area where people can have fun and still play bingo. At the moment the main hall is so big, people have to be very quiet to hear the numbers called.”
Mecca Bingo, General Manager Mark Henderson said: “We are delighted to be investing £1.6 million in Aberdeen and bringing 18 new full and part-time jobs.” In October last year Mecca Bingo relaunched their club in Beeston with a new innovative look that proved to be very popular with the locals and one expects that the Mecca in Aberdeen will follow suit.
