Ladbrokes Bingo giant bingo balls back on TV - Online Bingo News

Ladbrokes Bingo gave M&C Saatchi a huge challenge when they took on the Go Bingo advertising campaign last year which saw huge bingo balls propelled by bingo fans inside the balls, bouncing along the streets of Liverpool accompanied by crowds of online bingo fans.

As online bingo TV advertisments go it was adventurous, original and makes for great viewing. It was definitely a first for M&C Saatchi, who had never worked with giant spheres before. Balls are seen climbing over cars, creating chaos in traffic jams all over the city, and being chased by bingo fans past various well known Liverpudlian landmarks.

Ben Quinn, Director of Serious Pictures, said that working with the giant bingo balls was even more difficult than working with animals or children: “The sheer size of them, they're 4 metres high and they have a mind of their own. To wrangle these things all over the city was quite a task!"

'Sphering' as the strange sport is commonly known, is usually practised in open areas, going down hills. But this was the first time that these special giant balls, fashioned to look like bingo balls, had been let loose in a city complete with cars, pedestrians and other obstacles.

Riders had to dive through the ball opening into a smaller ball encapsuled inside, then the camera was rigged up in the opening. One of the ladies who volunteered said that she was a bit worried about falling on her head, but was assured it was absolutely safe. And indeed, nobody was hurt in the making of the online bingo advert, although the bingo ball riders were doubtless slightly dizzy afterwards!

The biggest problem was not the balls, but the good old British weather – almost non-stop rain and virtually no sunshine. In August????
