Ladbrokes Bingo advertisments banned - Online Bingo News

The folks at Ladbrokes Bingo must be bouncing their bingo balls in frustration after their latest series of TV online bingo adverts have fallen foul of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) resulting in them being banned from the UK television airwaves.
A single complaint received from a member of the public has now put the brakes on the new advertising campaign from online bingo UK firm Ladrokes Bingo, effectively rendering the £500,000 fee paid to top advertising firm M&C Saatchi a total waste of advertising budget.
The complaint activated the ASA review committee, and after an investigation, the ASA concluded that the new Ladbrokes Bingo adverts “portrayed gambling in the context of toughness and linked it to recklessness.” The series of three new TV bingo advertisments were promptly banned.
The bingo advertisments featured thrill-seekers looking for new kicks, and of course they end up playing bingo online. One of the three ads shows a deep sea diver dressed up as a seal, fastening a belt made of sausages around his waist before diving into shark-infested waters. Another of the trio shows a rock-climber, blind-folded and with his hands and feet bound, using his chin to climb up a steep rockface. The third advert in the series shows a skydiver using a bag of crisps to parachute back to earth. All three thrill-seekers in the adverts choose to play bingo online at the end as it's obviously much more exciting!
A spokesman from Ladbrokes Remote Betting and Gaming said, “We support the code of practise but this is political correctness going too far.”
“The ads are humorous and show people in fantastical situations to which no-one would aspire. Consumers know that you cannot jump from a plane using a 30g pack of crisps as a parachute!”
