Kentucky Judge grants 7 day extension - Online Bingo News

Last week Kentucky took prime place in online gambling news, due to the decision of its court to allow a ruling to seize 141 gambling domain names, including those of many online bingo, casino, poker and even software provider sites.

Secretary of the Justice Michael Brown instigated the civil action before the court on behalf of the Commonwealth of Kentucky in his attempt to kick out foreign online bingo sites and casino sites from the state stating that they were providing, or promoting illegal gambling.

Should the civil action be successful, it could mean that all 141 domains would be seized legally and put out of action. Among the affected domains are many online bingo sites that accept US players, including 123bingo.com and bingoknights.com who have now altered their domain names in order to keep their bingo operations online for their bingo online players.

The hearing had been set for Friday, by which time an estimated 22% of the domains in question had either been seized, or had taken precautionary measures in relocating to similar domains.

More than twenty legal representatives were present for the hearing, however they refused to reveal which online bingo or casino sites they were representing, so creating an impasse.

The postponed hearing now set for October 7, will give both sides time to prepare and present their cases in front of the Kentucky court.
