No complaint to answer to for Foxy Bingo ad - Online Bingo News

One complaint by a viewer to the UK’s Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) claiming a recent advert by popular Bingo Street-rated online bingo hall Foxy Bingo targeted children has been quashed by the agency.

The complaint alleged Foxy Bingo’s character, a man dressed in a fox costume and seen walking down an English high street amongst a throng of gathering people, constituted an attempt at appealing to children.  The ASA rebuffed the complaint saying:

"The ASA noted Cashcade and Clearcast's argument that the Foxy character had been designed in such a way as to represent an older adult figure in order to appeal to the target audience of women aged 35 years and over.

"We also noted that, because it promoted a gambling product, the ad had been given a scheduling restriction which prevented it being broadcast in or adjacent to children's programmes, or programmes commissioned for, principally directed at or likely to appeal particularly to audiences under the age of 18."

Foxy Bingo, a popular UK online bingo games operator stated that the online bingo character Foxy with its "mature Northern accent", "smart, formal suit" and "mature character" appealed to the over 35 age bracket.
