Monopoly proves it is good for something - Online Bingo News

Some news from the state-monopoly dominated Greek gambling market which may bring a smile to some who play bingo online – the country’s state gambling monopoly OPAP has made a Euro 25 million donation to victims of the Greek wildfires that destroyed so much of the countryside this last summer.

News of the donation came in the release of OPAP’s 3rd quarter results which show the company gained a 2.8% net profit of Euro 130.8 million, excluding the donation.

Non-Greek online bingo operators and online bingo halls are currently restricted from tapping the Greek online gaming market due to the existence of the country’s state-run gambling monopoly.  Greece has recently been targeted by the European Commission to ease its gambling industry restrictions and conform with EU free trade principles.
