Latest on iMEGA vs US court action - Online Bingo News

A courtroom attempt by the Internet Media Entertainment and Gaming Association (iMEGA) to restrain implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) is to be ruled on within the next thirty days.

While the US governments has tried to dismiss the case by claiming iMEGA do not constitute a viable body, the online bingo industry and operators of online bingo games have taken an interest in how this latest development may effect UIGEA and possibly signal a reopening of the US online gaming market.

By suing the US government, iMEGA is asserting that online gambling is protected by First Amendment privacy rights. The suit calls for an immediate stop to the ongoing enforcement of the law and may lead to UIGEA being declared unconstitutional.  Such a result would see non-US free online bingo operators being able to re-enter the US market.
