New Venetian casino aims to boost Macau - Online Bingo News

UK online bingo players looking for an exotic location for their next holidays may consider the southern Chinese city of Macau now that the giant Venetian casino has opened for business.

The stated aim of the Venetian is to shift the world’s attention away from the traditional Vegas Strip and divert people to the former Portuguese enclave.  It’s a sign of the times that power in the gambling world is steadily moving towards Asia.

The man behind the new Venetian casino is US billionaire Sheldon Adelson.  His latest investment joins those of the Wynn and Sands casinos in making Macau the most lucrative gambling place in the world.

While bingo or bingo online is not a major part of the Asian gambling scene, Adelson has hopes the new Venetian will be the catalyst for a transformation of Macau into a vacation and business hotspot on a global scale.

"Today is the beginning of what has been a dream of mine for some time — to reproduce the capital of entertainment in Asia for Asians," says Adelson.

Adelson said his Venetian Macao Resort Hotel on Cotai is the cornerstone of what will become a concentrated resort area he calls the Cotai Strip.

Of note is the Venetian’s boast that it is the world's largest gaming space coming in at 550,000 square feet and housing more than 800 gambling tables. It also offers over 6,000 rooms.

The jury seems to be divided on whether Macau can replace Las Vegas as the world’s number one gambling tourist hotspot, but for those in the free online bingo community looking for a new experience, Macau may be just the ticket.
