Malta riding high - Online Bingo News

The Malta Times has carried a report claiming that the arrival of no less than 27 international gambling companies has put Malta at the crest of an online gambling wave sweeping over the Internet.

Amongst the names familiar with many UK online bingo players about to make their home in Malta is Intercasino, William Hill, Littlewoods, Playboy Casino and Virgin Games.

The report confirms that there are already 84 internet gambling operators doing business out of Malta offering anything from traditional online poker and slots to the UK’s favourite – bingo online.

"Malta's becoming the natural hub of online gaming," commented Mario Galea, chief executive of the Lotteries Gaming Authority.

"Our regulations are very much in line with the EU's, and we have shown that we are capable of protecting operators - so it won't be long before the physical operations move to Malta," he added.

The influx of companies, including some major online bingo hall operators, has seen Mediterranean island’s stake in the online betting and gaming industry dramatically increase, especially in light of the recent closing down of the US market where online gambling financial transactions are currently strictly prohibited.
