Antigua says it can make UK white list - Online Bingo News

Despite a UK government decision to ban all gambling advertising by online gambling operations not on its ‘white list’ on non-EU jurisdictions, the Caribbean nation of Antigua says it can make the white list.

The UK's Department of Culture, Media and Services has released a white list of gambling licensing jurisdictions outside the EU that it says are acceptable when it comes to advertising in British media.  The list covers non-EU online bingo operators and Antigua is not on the list though it currently operates over 530 online gambling websites accessible to UK players.

In statements to local newspapers, Antigua says it is confident it will make the UK’s white list.

Antigua is one of the worlds most active online gambling licensing jurisdictions and is currently involved in a WTO spat with the US over its prohibition on foreign online gambling operations. The UK move will come as a blow to Antigua which relies heavily on its online gambling industry to boost its economy.

The UK ban on jurisdictions not on its white list goes into effect on September 1. The online bingo community in the UK will be faced with less choice at that time, but the ban should be beneficial to EU online bingo halls.
