“Is he or isn’t he?”; that’s what my mates and I want to know. My favourite online bingo chat room is abuzz with rumours of Robbie Williams’ supposed engagement. As you know, he is a fellow bingo player; us bingo fans always stick together so it is but natural that the gossip in the online bingo room turns towards Rob.
A few days ago, Robbie proposed to his long time girlfriend Ayda Field live on an Australian radio chat show, he asked her if she would "mind being my betrothed for the end of time". It started when show host Jackie Henderson told Robbie that Sydney has a reputation for celebrity marriage proposals.
Robbie immediately turned to Ayda and said "Ayda Field, I love you so much. Do you mind being my betrothed for the end of time?" She replied, "I would love to be your betrothed 'til the end of time".
The news caused a fantastic commotion and of course appeared in just about every tabloid and magazine possible and before I knew it, Robbie claimed on his blog that it was all one big joke; his post simply said ' hey all. We are not engaged rob x'. His publicist's message was equally brief, saying simply: "We have no more comment on this apart from to confirm that they are not engaged."
Things turned interesting when his mum Jan, claimed that Robbie had indeed asked Ayda to marry him and it was all true. She told the BBC she had 'always wanted a daughter-in-law' and was 'very excited' for the couple.
"They've been together for nearly three years, so it's about time," she continued. "She's a great mate, as well as a lover. She's got all the qualities that he needs in a girl. It's a lovely match."
Interestingly enough, Robbie and Ayda were photographed yesterday at Los Angeles airport and for some reason every photograph of Ayda has her hiding left hand. Could it be an engagement she was trying to conceal? The verdict in my online bingo chat room is that they should just get on with it and get married; what do you think?
