It may have been one of the biggest weddings online bingo players have witnessed in a while, but the nuptial celebrations of celeb couple Elizabeth Hurley and husband Arun Nayar are about to be put under the full glare of Indian law if some Hindus have it their way.
The couple’s showcase wedding in India last month has drawn criticism that it mocked Hindo traditions, according to an AFP report. Both risk the possibility of jail if they are found to have insulted Hindu sensibilities with their lavish celebrations.
The wedding cost a reputed US$3.9 million and was held at an ancient Rajasthan fort and was covered exclusively by Hello magazine. It was the publication of the Hello pictures that apparently prompted devout Hindus to call for the couple’s prosecution.
As if things weren’t bad enough, Nayar’s father has come out saying that he and his wife were treated badly by Hurley and Arun and that he will not forgive them the insult. One wonders if it really was worth it all?
