Do you have a favourite singer or band to chill out to when playing bingo online? Well, if you’re the Academy of Country Music, it is most definitely not the Dixie Chicks.
Fresh from sweeping the Gammy Awards with best album and four other Grammys, the Academy of Country Music Awards ain’t ready to make nice with the Texas trio and have given them a big fat zilch on the nominations front.
Regular players in online bingo halls are probably well aware of the Dixie Chick’s Bush-bashing antics back in 2003 where they lambasted their Texas compatriot over his Iraq policies. The subsequent furor in the US saw the band publicly ostracized and only accepted back into the mainstream with their recent Grammy successes. But it seems they still don’t fly with the ultra-conservative Nashville crowd.
Already 10-time winners at previous ACM Awards, the Dixie Chicks have been overlooked this year in favour of long-time country music stalwarts George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw amongst others.
